~queen for a day~

Abby is still not feeling up to par so Aunt Di pampered her like a queen today. She gave her a bath this morning and let her stay in for an hour. Then she lotioned and powdered her up and even blow dryed her hair. She looked so clean and fresh when I got home from work. This is the first night since Abigail was born that we did not give her a bath. And I must say it felt a little strange. We have the same routine every night and tonight was different but it's good to change it up every now and then.

We danced the night away (gimp knee and all) to Jason Mraz, thank goodness they air the same concert every night. We love him and can really boggie down to his sweet sweet music.

Mom stopped by today and dropped off some brownies, they were delicious and what a nice treat!

Crystal is singing Midnight Train to Georgia on American Idol and it's truly phenomenal! I have chills!! wow!

Side note! We had our Mathews Chamber Mixer last night that I organized and planned and it was quite a success. The Chamber is a group of local business owner's that join together to share and create new ideas. Apparently this was the largest crowd they've ever had. It was fun to see everyone and a good reminder that hard work pays off. Although I enjoyed every second of the planning so I really wouldn't consider it hard work! HA! :)

Eggs, a playhouse & the icky's

Again, Abby has been the healthiest baby until the past month or so. Yes, once again we have a cold!! We were supposed to have had Easter pictures taken yesterday at Sears but Abby started with either a cold or allergies on friday night, still not sold yet on which one she has. She woke up yesterday morning with a runny nose, watery eyes and just a plain old nagging cough. So, I cancelled her pictures and re-scheduled for next saturday. We had also planned to go to our church's talent show last night but decided not to go since A wasn't feeling so great. We piled in the jeep yesterday afternoon to drop off the 2 liter drinks I was in charge of. I'm sorry we missed it, sounds like it was a great show! We've been taking it easy today with some Easter egg dying and checking out Abby's new play house. She is so excited about it and I can hardly wait to find some cute little window boxes so we can plant flowers. I have a feeling she will be spending alot of time playing in it this spring and summer!! My dad built my brother's and I a playhouse (although we always called it the CLUBHOUSE) when we were young and I LOVED it, it had bunk beds in it and I have so many fun memories of "fixing it up" time and time again. I hope Abby loves her new little playhouse as much as I loved mine!

She seemed to have fun dying the eggs or atleast as much fun as she could today, poor baby was just feeling icky all day long!! But nonetheless she loved taking the eggs out of the dye and putting a new one in. They turned out really pretty and we can hardly wait to have an Easter egg hunt next sunday morning. And then our eggs will make their way to Mom & I.T.'s as we will have another hunt there with Landon & Layla!! We are so excited about Easter weekend!

Taaa daaa..

and the finished product!! :)

18 month check up

It was a beautiful day here, in the 60's, the sun was shining and the water was glistening. My grandmother (Mom) drove Abby and I to Williamsburg to her 18mo. check up. As we rode along the parkway I admired the beauty surrounding us like the budding trees and the sun shining on the York River. Mom reminded me of the fact that we take all of this for granted at times. Although I think back to my days of living in the mountains of Radford, VA and the heart of Richmond, VA and I did miss the water and the serenity of this beautiful place. I'm so happy to be home and living where I do!

Abby did great at her doctor's appointment with the exception of getting her shot. And she wasn't too fond of the man in the white coat, AKA Dr. Graham! She is in the 96th percentile for height, Dr. Graham says "get this girl a basketball!" 56th percentile for weight which isn't bad. This was her last vaccination until kindergarten, I think my jaw dropped when the nurse told me this. Gosh, she suddenly seems so grown up...no more shotties! The nurse also told me she recently thought of Abigail while shopping at Button's & Bows. She saw a pink and green polka dot dress with flamingo's embroidered around the neck. I love that Abby is thought of like that. FUN!
We celebrated with a banana split blizzard from Dairy Queen and after our treat Abigail was out like a light.

welcome spring

What a warm welcome it was! :)

We had a wonderful weekend. Saturday we visited with Les, Scott, Tucker and Mckenzie at Joe & Bev's. We had a great visit and I enjoyed seeing Abigail, Tucker and Mckenzie together. They had so much running around outside and then we all enjoyed having lunch together.

Saturday evening we ventured to Norfolk for a birthday celebration with the Ramsey's. Happy 30th Birthday Elizabeth & Happy 70th Birthday Jerry! We enjoyed being with our family and enjoyed some delicious food prepared by Aunt Kathy & Uncle Bill. As always the presentation was beautiful, I loved the red, black and white theme! It was so nice being with everyone and we loved hearing "jerry stories", we laughed the night away. Abby was such a good girl and loved being the bell of the ball! :)

Today we had some play time outside, it was another beautiful day!! Abby loves picking flowers, exploring and swinging! This evening we had dinner at mama & daddy's. Mom & I.T joined us and we loved being with them. We had a delicious meal prepared by mama and delicious german chocolate pie for dessert!

What a fun weekend and a very happy welcome to my second favorite season. Can't wait for my favorite...Summer is just around the corner. But for now I will enjoy the beautiful daffodils, budding trees and green grass between my toes!

One legged Wonder I am not

I went to the doctor on Friday and found out that I do infact have an ACL,MCL & meniscus tear but...THE GOOD NEWS IS...is that my doctor is going to give me 4 weeks to see if my ACL will heal on it's own, if it does then it may not require surgery! YES! :) I have to wear this awkward brace all of the time, I even have to sleep in it but hey, it could be worse.

So saturday Robert babysat Abigail while my parent's took me to Costco and a few other places to get some things we needed. Thank you mama and daddy for helping us. Robert had his dad over for dinner so we both had some quality time with our parents. I felt like I accomplished alot but by the time I got home I was exhausted with a swollen knee and foot. Abby was still up so we played and read books before bedtime.

Sunday we went to Norfolk to baby Thomas' baptism and I realized there that this could in fact be a long 4 weeks. Abby ate lunch and then she was ready to explore, it was then that I realized how helpless I feel. Robert chased her around the club and I just sat and watched which was so hard for me, I want to do the way I have always done for my baby girl. So take it from me, if you are able to chase that little one around enjoy every second because it's when you can't that you miss it terribly!!

Today my grandmother came over and as always she was a huge help. After she left this afternoon I decided to try and clean the hardwood floors in our bedroom while Abby was napping, I just couldn't stand the dust bunnies anymore!! I took my time and thought it was going well until I had a slight slip.....after that I decided to get over it and that I just need to take it easy. So, lesson learned....we as women think we can conquer anything and I truly believe that's possible..IF YOU HAVE TWO WORKING LEGS! HA! :) Good night.

GRISWOLD VACATION

What started out as a fun trip to Wintergreen ski resort ended GRISWOLD style!! It was a beautiful day to travel as we stopped off of I.295 for some lunch at Cracker Barrel. We got to Wintergreen, unpacked and we all ventured out to walk around the resort. Robert and I decided to go night skiing so we got our tickets and to the slopes we went. We had a great time and got quite a few runs in before I decided I wanted to go tell Abigail good night one more time and also grab a bite to eat. Our first run after that I had a pretty bad fall, ended up in the ER after an interesting ride in an ambulance (never been in one those). The sweet little medic tried taking my mind off of the pain running up and down my leg telling me about leaving for a trip to Freeport, Bahama's in just a few hours. All I could think about was Abby and how in the world I could care for her with a hurt knee. All they told me at the hospital was that I needed to see an orthopedic doctor on Monday and I had a severe knee injury. GREAT!!! :) Saturday we had a fun day just being together at our condo and we were so excited to have Layla join us. Daddy and Robert took the children to the pool which they just loved.

Saturday evening we had a pizza party!! Around 8:00 mama started to feel bad, then daddy and then poor little Landon. They were all throwing up and Landon was still throwing up on the ride home Sunday. Abby was quite the sport throughout all of this. She was scared of my splint and crutches at first but before I left for the doctor on Monday totally out of the blue she walked over to me and kissed my splint. I think that was the most precious thing I have yet to see her do. She is such a little doll.

The doctor seems to think I have a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus. I'll find out the results of the MRI tomorrow. We are all adjusting and Abby has truly amazed me. She knows I have a hurt leg and will snuggle up next to me on the couch to read books.

Despite everything we still had a fun time laughing and being silly~

"Pwease"

That is my new favorite thing that Abby is saying, not always in the correct context but adorable none the less! She has also started saying her ABC's, after us of course, she's like a parrot. I say A, she says A, I say B, she says B, usually long about G we're done...very cute!

We are finally on the up and up from our bout with the flu. Now Abby's Tuesday babysitter, Aunt Di, has it. I disinfected the house more than I cared too but I guess it was a bad little flu bug. We feel horrible and hope she is feeling better real soon.

We have had a very busy week!! Between work, more snow, going away/birthday party for co-worker, grocery shopping, dancing, reading and playing, there's just been time for nothing else! :)

We are packing up to leave for a little ski trip this weekend. My parent's are going and taking Landon and Layla so I am excited for Abby to spend some time with her cousin's. I'm looking forward to taking them swimming in the indoor pool and sharing some time on the slopes with my husband. Our last ski trip was to Vail, Colorado but I wasn't able to ski because I was pregnant with Abby so I'm very excited to do something I have not done in a few years!!!!!

Our computer is on the fritz at home so until we get that fixed or get a new one my blogging may not be as frequent.

Cheers to a happy and fun weekend! :)
